Boarding at PHC
Welcome from Mrs Rachel Penberthy, House Parent...
I am delighted to welcome you to the Boarding section of the PHC website!
My role is to keep our boarders safe, encourage them to make the most of the fantastic variety of opportunities available here and to help them to feel settled and happy so that each individual can be encouraged to achieve to the best of their potential – academic, cultural, sporting, or creative.
Community, care, and fun are at the heart of the Boarding House. Students form lifelong friendships within our diverse community of UK and international boarders. We are dedicated to providing a safe, happy, and caring environment in which all boarders can develop and flourish.
We believe that boarding should complement family life. As such we work in loco parentis during term time, partnering boarders’ parents and guardians, to ensure that students develop into positive, confident, and compassionate members of the boarding community. A firm relationship between boarders’ school and home lives is important and beneficial.
Boarding can seem daunting at first, however, it provides the opportunity to experience community life to an extent many people may never otherwise have. It brings with it many benefits in preparing for life after school, in addition to the many fantastic memories boarders create and share. Students learn tolerance, self-reliance, and openness, not to mention forging friendships often as strong as family ties. A whole new world awaits.
I hope to welcome you to PHC for a visit so you can see for yourself what a wonderful place PHC is to live and learn!
