Admission Process

Princess Helena College is transitioning to a fully co-educational school. Currently we welcome girls into all year groups and day boys into Years 7 and 12. From September 2020, we will be welcoming boys, both day and boarding into Years 7, 8, 9 and 12.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are sad to announce that Princess Helena College is closed until further notice. Although we are unable to host our Open Mornings as usual, our Admissions team will still be working during this time and are welcoming enquiries and applications for September 2020 and beyond.

Please contact Mel Harper, Registrar, by telephone on 01462 443888 or at melanie.harper@phchitchin.com to discuss your application.

There are opportunities to visit and get a taste of life at Princess Helena College throughout the academic year.

1.     Come to our Open Days and Mornings

Open Days are held on a Saturday twice a year, during the Autumn and Spring term. We also host Coffee Mornings which are held on weekdays and provide an opportunity for prospective families to see the School at work. Parents can speak to specific teachers one-to-one, meet our Head, tour the School and see what daily life is like at PHC. Personal tours are also available on a date convenient to you.

2.     Entrance Test

Students will sit their entrance test in January 2021 and take three papers: English - 50 minutes; Mathematics - 60 minutes; Verbal Reasoning - 30 minutes.

3.     Meet the Head

Prospective parents and their son or daughter meets with our Head, in her study.  This gives parents and children the opportunity to ask specific questions they may have about PHC. It also gives us the opportunity to find out more about your child and how we could help them thrive.

Secured Place Scheme

We offer a Secured Place Scheme which allows students from Year 5 or Year 6 to secure a place at Princess Helena College in Year 7 or 9 respectively. The early assessment and subsequent secured place gives parents the assurance of a place for their son/daughter's future school education.
