Creative Arts - Media Studies
The growth and impact of technology on the global workplace is the primary reason why we teach Media Studies at Princess Helena College.
A diverse subject, Media Studies is intellectually stimulating, theoretical and enriching, giving students a range of skills applicable to the ever-changing world of the 21st century.
What it involves
The students critically access and interpret modern culture in a variety of mediums including:
- Film
- Television
- Newspapers
- Websites
- Computer Design
- Games
- Music
The final project gives students the opportunity to create their own media piece. Over the years we have seen students produce a diverse range of media from trailers to advertising campaigns.
There are opportunities to participate in a range of activities including cinematography, sound, lighting and editing of School activities. The climactic point in the year for media enthusiasts is Speech Day. The School produces a film and all pupils have the opportunity to appear in, help create, or compose the score for this unique presentation.
