PHC Support Operation Christmas Child & Trussell Trust
/ Categories: General
One way for students to improve their wellbeing is through giving and therefore the students at PHC continue to come together to give to those who need it most, especially this year. Every year we ask our students to fill boxes that can be sent to children who may not receive a gift over the Christmas period. We now have a collection of beautifully wrapped boxes ready to ship out this week.
If students, staff or parents wish to send a box this year Operation Christmas Child has extended their deadline due to the lockdown to the week of the 5-14 December for more information please follow this link https://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/find-your-drop-off-location/
Our final act of giving this term will be supporting the Trussell Trust with our two week food bank during the final two weeks of school (30th Nov- 11th Dec). We are asking for students to donate items as listed below, they cannot be any items that have a close sell by date or are not storable.
In the UK more than 14 million people are living in poverty including 4.25 million children. The winter months can be particularly difficult for families who cannot afford even the basic food essentials, this of course is a particularly difficult year and the need will be greater. If you are able to support with this please ensure you add extras into your shop for donation. There will be boxes in each of the form rooms for students to drop off their donations during the last two weeks of school starting Monday 30th November. Items can include the following:
- Cereal
- Soup
- Pasta
- Rice
- Tinned tomatoes/ pasta sauce
- Lentils, beans and pulses
- Tinned meat
- Tinned vegetables
- Tea/coffee
- Tinned fruit
- Biscuits
- UHT milk
- Fruit juice
