Looking after your wellbeing during lockdown

Looking after your wellbeing during lockdown

/ Categories: General

The safety, emotional health and wellbeing of everybody in our Princess Helena community are incredibly important and we sincerely hope that our students and their families are staying healthy whilst we are not all in the PHC buildings together.

MS Teams has allowed us to create a Wellbeing channel within the PHC Student hub, in addition to the regular and ongoing contact our students have with staff here. PHC teachers and support staff also have a Wellbeing channel on Teams, and enjoy remote daily informal coffee breaks and weekly wellbeing sessions.

However, we recognise that although some people are indeed thriving under lockdown, others might be feeling concerned about their mental health and wellbeing. If this is you, or somebody you know is seeking support, we want to share with you some of the many fantastic wellbeing resources being offered online by a range of organisations, that you may find useful whilst school is operating remotely (simply click on the underlined words to link straight through to the appropriate resources online).

Evidence shows that there are five things we should all be doing to take care of our wellbeing (at all times, not just during this pandemic). This helpful checklist from Just Talk Herts provides some suggestions if you're stuck for ideas.

The Mix - dealing with coronavirus

Young Minds - coronavirus and mental health

Childline - coronavirus as well as the Calm Zone resources

One Space To (a recently created alliance of various organisations aimed at under-25s seeking support)

Please do also remember that all PHC students can speak with any member of staff to request support whenever they feel the need.

A final thought - just as "it's OK to not feel OK" at the moment, many people are enjoying many aspects of lockdown and appreciating some of the changes that have occurred during the past three months. If this is you, then don't feel guilty, "it's OK to feel OK" too!

Best wishes to everybody in our PHC community!
